In Alpharetta
Symphony at Sunset: Halloween Spooktacular, Sunday, Oct. 11, 6 p.m. The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra plays “Danse macabre,” “Night on Bald Mountain” and music from the Harry Potter and E.T. films at Ameris Bank Amphitheatre, 2200 Encore Parkway. Gates open at 4:30 p.m., with face painting, an instrument station, photo backdrops and trick-or-treat surprises. Come in costume. Tickets start at $18.30, according to the orchestra’s event page.
Boo Bash, Saturday, Oct. 17, 3 to 7 p.m. The city’s free festival at The Grove behind the Alpharetta Community Center, 175 Roswell St. Scarecrow Harvest winners are announced there. Details are in our trick-or-treat guide and on the city’s Boo Bash page.
Fall Fest at North Point Mall, Saturday, Oct. 17, 1 to 4 p.m. Roaming characters, balloon twisters, face painting and a kids’ costume contest for ages 1 to 6 and 7 to 13, with prizes, on the lower level near Macy’s, 1000 North Point Circle. This one is listed by the visitors bureau; the mall’s own site did not show it as of Oct. 4.
Once Upon a Not-So-Spooky Maze, North Point Mall. A walk-through storybook maze on the second floor, next to FairyTale Village, sold in timed tickets every 15 minutes. Its holiday version, the Merry Maze, opens Nov. 13. Details: Once Upon a Maze.
Trick or Treating at Avalon, Saturday, Oct. 24, 10 a.m. to noon. Start at Concierge for a map of candy stops along The Boulevard and The Plaza, 400 Avalon Blvd. Avalon lists kids’ activities, a Chick-fil-A pop-up selling breakfast and lunch, and a Halloween dance show by Rhythm & Shoes at noon. Halloween for adults
Trick or Drink at Avalon, Friday, Oct. 30, 6 to 8 p.m. A costume night on The Plaza with specialty cocktails and dancing (Avalon’s event page). The visitors bureau describes it as adults-only with a live DJ and free admission.
A Hamilton Halloween: Mystery of Room 231, Friday, Oct. 30, 6 to 10 p.m. The Hamilton Alpharetta, 35 Milton Ave., holds an adults-only night: cocktail hour from 6 to 7 p.m., then a hotel-wide mystery game, plus a costume contest. Tickets on the hotel’s Eventbrite page.

Halloween Hikes, Oct. 23-25, Chattahoochee Nature Center, Roswell. The 41st year of the nature center’s hikes, at 9135 Willeo Road: 6 to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday. Families follow a half-mile self-guided trail, trick-or-treating at houses run by the center’s woodland characters. The Haunted Quest, a mile-and-a-half scavenger hunt, is recommended for ages 12 and up. There are also games, crafts, food trucks and music. Cumming Country Fair & Festival, Oct. 8-18, Cumming Fairgrounds. The 31st fair, with rides, fair food, concerts and ground acts (city of Cumming listing).
Howl-oween, Saturday, Oct. 24, 4 to 8 p.m., Cumming City Center, 423 Canton Road. Pet-friendly trick-or-treating at decorated businesses, adoptable pets, vendors and a storefront decorating contest (city of Cumming listing).
