We want to hear about a mistake so we can fix it. This page explains how to reach us and what happens next. Our editorial standards set out the rules we hold ourselves to.

Corrections

If anything in a story is wrong, email hello@alpharettanow.com with the link to the story and what is incorrect. We check it against the original record. When we got it wrong, we correct the story, usually the same business day, and add a dated note at the foot of the page saying what changed.

Right of reply

If you or your organization is named in a story and you want to respond, email the same address. We will add your response to the story, clearly attributed, usually within one business day.

Complaints about a story

Tell us which story it is, what you believe is wrong or unfair and what you would like us to do. Email hello@alpharettanow.com.

  1. We confirm we have your complaint within two business days.
  2. We go back to the original record and look into it.
  3. We reply with what we found and what we are going to do, usually within 10 business days.
  4. If we were wrong, we correct the story and say so on the page.

If you are not satisfied with our answer, ask for the editor to review it and we will tell you the outcome in writing. Nothing on this page affects your legal rights.

Photos and takedown requests

If you appear in a photo on our site and did not agree to it being published, or a photo shows your child, email us and we will take it down while we look into it. The same goes for a story you believe should not be online: tell us which one and why, and we will decide promptly and explain our decision.

People named in a police or court item can ask us to update it, for example when charges are dropped or a case ends in acquittal. Send the link and a copy of the court record or other document, and we will add the outcome to the story. Our contact page has a form for this.

Privacy

What we hold about you and how to have it removed is on our privacy page.
