The eyeglass chain's new flagship is at 2855 Old Milton Parkway, open six days a week. It drops the front check-in counter and adds a lens center and a fitting area.

America’s Best, the eyeglass and eye exam chain, has opened its flagship store in Alpharetta. The store is at 2855 Old Milton Parkway, Suite 104, next to Avalon.

The company unveiled it this week. Its parent, National Vision Holdings, announced the opening Thursday in a news release. The company says the store sets the standard for how the brand will serve customers at its other stores.

Hours and location

  • Address: 2855 Old Milton Parkway, Suite 104
  • Monday to Friday: 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Saturday: 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The release gives no Sunday hours.

What is different about it

America’s Best says the store is designed around the customer instead of around store processes. According to the release, the new layout includes:

  • no formal front check-in counter, replaced by a more open floor
  • a pretest area with eye testing equipment
  • a Lens Education Center, where customers compare lens options
  • a “celebration area,” where staff make final adjustments to new glasses

“Historically, retail stores have been designed around processes. We designed this store around people and the moments that matter most to patients and customers,” Mark Banner, president of America’s Best, said in the release.

The design firm WD Partners worked on the store. The release did not say how many people work there or how many optometrists see patients.

Who is behind it

National Vision Holdings is one of the largest optical retail companies in the U.S., with more than 1,200 stores in 40 states and Puerto Rico, the company says. It also runs Eyeglass World and the online store DiscountContacts.com.

What it means for you
