Wire & Wood, the city’s free songwriters festival, takes over downtown Alpharetta Friday and Saturday, with the Turkish Food Festival on North Main Street and a Halloween symphony concert at Ameris Bank Amphitheatre to close the weekend.

  • FitLife Expo, noon to 5 p.m., Alpharetta City Center, 2001 Commerce St. Health and wellness vendors, free fitness classes and screenings. The One Step Closer Breast Cancer Walk checks in at 11 a.m. and starts at 12:15 p.m., and a new pet parade starts at 11:45 a.m. Expo site.
  • Makers Market Local Artist Fair, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., The Plaza at Avalon. More than 30 local makers selling jewelry, woodwork, candles, art and plants. Avalon page.
