Where it is
The South Main LCI report (PDF), dated Feb. 23, 2023, defines its study area as the South Main Street (Alpharetta Highway, State Route 9) corridor “from Downtown Alpharetta to the city limits bordering the City of Roswell.” The report says:
- The study area covers 241 acres and 805 tax parcels, with just under 1,400 residents.
- More than half of its households rent.
- Its homes average 8.9 years old, against 20.1 years for the city as a whole.
On this page the area also takes in the neighborhoods on either side of the corridor, between Old Milton Parkway on the north and the Roswell line, including Wills Road, Upper Hembree Road and Maxwell Road. OpenStreetMap marks Alpha Park as a named neighborhood here; the city’s comprehensive plan lists Alpha Park among the older neighborhoods near downtown where knock-down rebuilds were common from 2021 to 2025. The plan also calls for redevelopment of “highway corridors, especially North Point Parkway, Old Milton Parkway, and South Main Street.”
The district’s map data puts 92% of the area’s addresses in ZIP code 30009 and 8% in 30076. Addresses inside city limits get Alpharetta police, fire and trash service.
