Where it is
The city’s Horizon 2045 Comprehensive Plan, adopted June 22, 2026, makes Brookside and Great Oaks two of its five focus areas:
- Brookside is a 155-acre district along Brookside Parkway, first master-planned in 1997 and reworked in the 2022 Brookside Small Area Plan. It has been an office, institutional and retail center. The plan says a 19.7-acre redevelopment and an office-to-residential conversion “will introduce hundreds of new homes.” Georgia State University has a presence there, and the district holds Brookside Park, a city-owned lakefront park, and about 2 miles of trails.
- Great Oaks, more than 370 acres, sits just north of North Point and immediately south of Brookside. The plan describes it as large office buildings, data centers and North Point Community Church.
On this page the area runs east from Georgia 400 between about Old Milton Parkway and the North Point district, out along Kimball Bridge Road to the city line. Brookside Parkway and Kimball Bridge Road are the main roads. The plan notes the reconstruction of Kimball Bridge Road, with a bridge replacement and new sidewalks, and the Alpha Loop’s planned crossing of Georgia 400.
The district’s map data puts 60% of the area’s addresses in ZIP code 30022, 38% in 30005 and 1% in 30009. Addresses inside city limits get Alpharetta police, fire and trash service. New Prospect Elementary, at 3055 Kimball Bridge Road, is in the area.
