How admission works
From the school’s admissions FAQ:
- Who can apply: students in grades K-8 who live in the Fulton County School District, with two proofs of residency. The school’s home page says the campus is open to Fulton County residents outside the city limits of Atlanta. Kindergartners must be 5 by Sept. 1.
- When: open enrollment for 2026-27 ran from Dec. 1, 2025, to Jan. 31, 2026. The school’s home page says enrollment for the 2027-28 school year opens Jan. 1, 2027.
- The lottery: held in February if applications exceed available seats, “which is usually the case,” the school says. Anyone who applies after open enrollment goes on the waitlist by date and time of application.
- Mid-year entry: the school admits students only during the first 10 days of each semester, in August and January, if seats are open. Waitlists do not carry over; families reapply each year.
- What families sign up for: uniforms, and a request that each parent volunteer at least 10 hours a school year (20 hours for a two-parent household), “as per our charter.”
Buses. Amana has two buses, one to Roswell and one to Alpharetta, with limited space. Seats go by a separate bus lottery each spring, and the school says most families provide their own transportation.
Charter. The Fulton County Board of Education approved Amana’s charter renewal for a fifth five-year term in January 2024, according to the school’s announcement.
Enrollment and teachers
- Federal count: 734 students in the 2023-24 school year, with 53 full-time-equivalent teachers, according to the NCES directory. That works out to about 14 students per teacher.
- State count: 680 students in the state’s 2025 School Grades report, compared with 759 in 2024 and 755 in 2023.
State report card
Georgia grades schools with the College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI), which the Georgia Department of Education calls “Georgia’s annual tool for measuring how well schools, districts, and the state are preparing students for the next educational level,” according to its accountability page. Scores run from 0 to 100. Because Amana runs from kindergarten to eighth grade, the state scores its elementary and middle grades separately and combines them into one score.
| Report year | Single score | Elementary grades | Middle grades |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2025 | 87.7 | 83.0 | 96.4 |
| 2024 | 87.0 | 83.8 | 93.3 |
| 2023 | 84.7 | 87.9 | 78.2 |
In 2025 the elementary score broke down into content mastery 84.6, progress 88.3, closing gaps 60 and readiness 88.5; the middle grades scored content mastery 93.5, progress 97.1, closing gaps 100 and readiness 96.6. In reading, 45.8% of third graders, 78.1% of fifth graders and 85.3% of eighth graders scored at or above the midpoint of the state’s grade-level Lexile range.
Georgia Milestones, 2025 end-of-grade tests (share of tested students at the proficient and distinguished levels):
| Subject | Grades | Proficient | Distinguished |
|---|---|---|---|
| English language arts | 3 to 5 | 39.4% | 17.8% |
| Math | 3 to 5 | 40.9% | 21.6% |

Zone and next school
Amana has no attendance zone, and it does not appear on the district’s 2026-27 north Fulton feeder pattern. To see which district high school an address is zoned for, use the district’s attendance zone map. Amana is not among the schools in the district’s current redistricting review.
Calendar and school day
Amana keeps its own calendar. Its FAQ says it has the same instructional days and start date as Fulton County Schools but adds teacher workdays, so some dates differ. From Amana’s 2026-27 calendar:
