How admission works
From the school’s Apply to IA page:
- Who can apply: Fulton County residents living in Learning Zones 4, 5, 6 or 7. That covers students zoned to Alpharetta, Cambridge, Centennial, Chattahoochee, Johns Creek, Milton, North Springs, Northview, Riverwood and Roswell high schools.
- When: students apply in eighth grade. The school admits rising ninth graders only. The application for the 2027-28 school year is open now.
- What it takes: an online application with two short-answer questions or a video of 30 seconds or less on why the student wants to attend. No change of school assignment request is needed.
- How students are chosen: completed applications go into a random lottery. The first acceptance emails go out in January, and students not picked go on a wait list. The school says it usually runs three rounds of acceptances, a week apart.
- Siblings: there is no sibling guarantee; each child applies separately. The page says exceptions may be made for twins and triplets.
The school’s About Us page says students complete a list of requirements for its magnet program in addition to the state’s graduation requirements, and describes its focus as connections between “the Career Pathways, STEM and Humanities.”
Enrollment and teachers
- Federal count: 1,443 students in the 2023-24 school year, with 77 full-time-equivalent teachers, according to the NCES directory. That works out to about 19 students per teacher.
- State count: 1,522 students in the state’s 2025 School Grades report, up from 1,456 in 2024 and 1,158 in 2023.
