Monday's City Council meeting is canceled. The data center substation and driveway parking rules move to Nov. 16, and the nuisance code rewrite is withdrawn.

The Alpharetta City Council will not meet Monday. The city canceled its Oct. 26 meeting and public hearing and moved most of the agenda to November.

The city posted a cancellation notice in place of the agenda Friday. It lists where each item has gone. One item, the rewrite of the city’s nuisance code, has been withdrawn. The notice gives no reason for the cancellation.

Where Monday’s items went

The notice moves these to the council meeting on Monday, Nov. 16:

  • Royal 400 data center substation (MP-26-13 and CU-26-11), a Georgia Power substation for the data center at 4905 North Point Parkway, near Kimball Bridge Road. The applicant asked for the deferral. Our story on the substation has the plans and the conditions.
  • Business and recreational vehicle parking (PH-26-04), the change that would let one marked work vehicle park on a home’s driveway. City staff deferred it. It is still a first reading. We explained the driveway parking change.
  • A restaurant in Windward (MP-26-08), a free-standing restaurant with no drive-thru on 3.75 acres at Windward Parkway. Staff deferred it.
  • 350 Wills Lane (Z-26-07 and V-26-15), a request to split 4.98 acres into three home lots. The applicant had already deferred it.

These move to the meeting on Monday, Nov. 9:

  • approval of the minutes of the Oct. 19 council meeting
  • a one-year, $116,000 renewal with Novacoast for endpoint management and vulnerability software

Nuisance code rewrite withdrawn

The ordinance to rewrite Chapter 26 of the city code, “Nuisances,” has been withdrawn and “will not be considered,” the notice says. It would have changed what conditions on private property can be declared a nuisance. It also set out the steps for abatement and for placing liens on property.

The notice does not say whether a new version will come back.

The Oct. 26 agenda also listed a work session discussion of a policy on legal costs for city officials and employees sued in civil cases. The cancellation notice does not mention it.
